Please join us for the Second Friday artwalk in Chapel Hill on September 9, 6-9pm. There will be a one-off (spin off from The Concern Reading Series) poetry reading with Krysten Voelkner, Alexander Benedict and Muhammad Kasule, all students at UNC-CH, either in poetry studies or not. emilio Taiveaho Peláez will be introducing the poets.
Also, opening in the hallway will be a collection of photographs by Matthew Pardue (KY). These were taken in Los Angeles, pre-pandemic & never shown before.
Now in print: a book dedicated to the past year of poetry readings at Attic 506, including poems by 24 of the writers who shared their work on the rooftop. Thanks to Dylan Angell for curating & emcee-ing, as well as the Orange County Arts Commission for the project support. All participants in the book will receive a free copy of the book. It will be sold to the public for $4 a copy starting Friday, June 9 at the reading itself. The writers included in this book are: Dylan Angell, Susannah Simpson, Marta Núñez Pouzols, Minori Sanchiz-Fung, Laura Jaramillo, emilio Taiveaho Pelaez, Loan Tran, Olivia Gone, Sam Lineberger, Nina Oteria, Aimee (Harrison) Wright Clow, Fred Joiner, Chris Catanese, Skylar Gudasz, Joe Fletcher, Amanda Bennett, Max McDonough, Ted Rees, Lauren Hunter, Riley Ratcliff, Michael Cavuto, Travis Smith, Ryan Eckes.
The Concern Reading Series will have its last iteration as such, on Friday, June 10, doors at 6pm, reading at 7pm with five writers: Michael Cavuto, Riley Ratcliff, Lauren Hunter, Travis Smith, Ryan Eckes. Join us on Sunday, April 10 on the rooftop at Attic 506 in Chapel Hill. The Concern Reading Series and Golias Books (Durham) present Thanksgiving, A Poem, read in its entirety by Ted Rees (PA). Doors open at 3pm. Reading starts at 4pm. Afterward hear music from The Always Sacred Beauty Collective. Line up organized by Dylan Angell. Organized by Dylan Angell (author of I Am My Own Imaginary Friend and Photo Never Taken), the reading includes poets from the Triangle area: Michelle Dove, Laura Jaramillo, Chanelle A. Bergeron and Minori Sanchiz-Fung (who has a solo show of painting at Slug Space at Attic 506 currently).
